We understand that navigating the process of insurance coverage can be a confusing and frustrating one. That’s why we encourage each patient to check with their provider before their appointment to ensure that you’re getting the coverage you need for your hearing health. Here are some frequently asked questions about insurance to help you navigate the process.
Does Insurance Cover Hearing Tests?
Although this can always vary from policy to policy, hearing tests are generally covered by insurance. However, this coverage might depend on some steps like your doctor ordering a hearing test based on medical necessity. For this reason, you may need to see your regular physician to get a recommendation or referral if you want insurance coverage.
Does Insurance Cover Hearing Aids?
At Hearing Doctors of New Jersey, we and our Doctors of Audiology are out-of-network providers with insurance plans. While each insurance plan is different, some do cover the cost (or partial cost) of hearing aids. Our staff understands how hearing aids can greatly improve your quality of life after hearing loss, and we want to help each of our patients take the next step in their hearing health. We will work with you to provide the necessary documentation so that you can utilize your out-of-network benefits. Additionally, you can use a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending.
Does Insurance Cover Hearing Aid Repairs, Accessories, or Batteries?
Although some policies may make exceptions, you’re more likely to find coverage for these factors within your hearing aids’ manufacturer warranty. We can discuss the specifics of each warranty during your consultation.
